Never Ending Service

Speaking of tractors, I also don’t think that I will ever forget when the Gilbert 9th Ward had a ward-wide service project when mom and dad lived back on Riata with the Ash’s.  The project was mainly clean up based.  Various groups were stationed throughout the ward boundaries assigned to help with lawns, roadway and canal clean up.  Dad was like a “kid on Christmas morning.”  That was HIS type of project.  He roamed from group to group mounted on his tractor (a much bigger one now) helping anyone and everyone that he could.  If he could’ve driven that tractor 70 mph, he would have!  It’s like he couldn’t get anywhere fast enough for his liking.  He even set up  a water station in front of the house so all of the volunteers could quickly replenish their energy and keep on moving… I rarely think I’ve seen him happier.
