Importance of cousins

Ethan’s final story about Papa involves what else but working!  He said that he has lots of great stories of his Papa, but some of the greatest were his days of working.  He said that he, Austin and Logan were up in attic at the Riata house helping to carry (or throw, if it was plastic) things down.  They found a box of old Pokemon cards and lost track of time.  Papa came out to check on them periodically yelling, “What are you guys doing up there?”  To which they would reply each time, “Oh nothing, Papa, we’re almost done.”  Ethan said that easily 2 hours went by without Papa complaining or rushing them down.

In a recent Stake Conference talk, one of the visiting Quorum of the Seventy speakers made a comment about a piece of art on the wall in the room that he was staying in at the Stake President’s home that said, “Grandma and Grandpa’s house is where cousins go to become best friends.”  That statement made such an impression on Papa.  I think Papa appreciated the moment that was taking place up in the attic of that home & that’s why he patiently left them up there – cousins becoming friends.
